Join us at The Africa Center on Tuesday, February 15th at 7:00PM ET for Film at The Africa Center screening of The Gravedigger’s Wife.

The Gravedigger’s Wife follows Guled and Nasra, a loving couple, living in the outskirts of Djibouti with their teenage son Mahad. The film is a  poetic romance which centers on a family facing impossible loss, and the lengths one man will go for his beloved.

In partnership with the African Film Festival, Film at The Africa Center will host a series showcasing a selection of films by emerging African filmmakers. These films will reflect a range of genres, themes, and visual styles, allowing audiences to experience the vibrant tapestry of African cinema.

About the Director

Finnish writer-director Khadar Ayderus Ahmed, born in Mogadishu 40 years ago, has directed several successful short films, such as The Night Thief in 2017. In addition, he has already made a notable career as a scriptwriter. The Gravedigger’s Wife is Ahmed’s first feature.
