Kofi Annan (1938-2018)

Kofi Annan portrait

The Africa Center mourns the passing of former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

He played a crucial role in promoting peace and advocating for human dignity through his work at the United Nations and later during his retirement. Annan, a Ghanaian national, was the exemplar of a global African: firmly committed to his Kumasi roots while building a new narrative about Africa’s importance and influence on the international stage.

Even as we mourn his passing, we celebrate his legacy.
