The Africa Center’s CEO, Uzodinma Iweala spoke to BBC World News Focus on Africa‘s Lukwesa Burak about the current state of affairs in the United States in the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of police. Mass uprisings against police brutality and racism have ensued in different cities throughout the country. Dr. Iweala spoke of the importance of resilience, solidarity across the Diaspora, and keeping the #BlackLivesMatter movement going despite extraordinary challenges Black people and their allies face in the fight against persistent systemic oppression.
